After my year in Australia, I lived in London for two and a half years, but always with the intention of moving back to Sydney eventually. But I carried on writing my journals in London... mostly because I just liked writing them, and my friends in other parts of the world (and some in the UK) still liked to read them. Here they are! Innocent victims
I read in the Metro today (so it must be true) that a new, life-size sculpture of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Al Fayed has just been completed for Mohamed Al Fayed, the owner of Harrods. Who says you can't buy class?
The unlucky couple, cast in bronze are standing together, smiling sweetly at each other, and releasing a giant bird... The piece is provocatively entitled, "Innocent Victims". Surely the only innocent victims will be the pour souls who blunder down to the lower ground floor in search of a handbag or a pair of shoes, and, having fought their way through a crowd of cooing Americans, are assaulted (nay, violated) by the sight of this brazen eyesore.
I can just tell that Wally will be dying inside on hearing this since if he'd just booked his holiday a little later in the year, he would have been able to see this monstrosity in all its tacky glory. Sadly, it was not to be.
