Darwin, Northern Territory
Matt and I flew to Darwin from Cairns. Darwin's the capital of the Northern Territory, but is quite small, only about 86000 people. It was hit by Cyclone Tracy in 1974 (an early Christmas present).
We found it hot and quiet. Apart from touring the "old" buildings, we couldn't find much to do.
