university
To begin with, I went to Hertford College, Oxford (the one with the bridge). I met some fantastic friends there (some of whom I'm still in touch with), and I visit them as often as I can.
I had some great times in Oxford (although the nightlife isn't much of an improvement on Hereford!), but at the end of the day, my course in Classics wasn't for me; at the end of my first year, I started looking around for somewhere new.
Somewhere new was University of Wales Swansea. My tutor in Oxford wasn't so impressed with the course there, but I had a strong urge to learn some Welsh, and my choices were limited to Lampeter or Swansea for Classics with Welsh.
Swansea has beaches, McDonalds, BK and a train station, and thousands more students, so I chose there. In the first year, I lived in Clyne Halls, and in the second and third year, I lived with five other housemates in a house in Brunswick Street. Life would become less cushy, but suddenly much more affordable once I was a taxpayer.
